Illegal Immigration
Geanie Morrison believes that it is critical to secure our borders. It is tantamount to the safety of all Texans that we continue to ensure that our border patrol agents have the resources necessary to stop the illegal border crossings, end the violence perpetrated by the drug cartels, and eliminate the human trafficking that has resulted in the loss of numerous lives.
-
Education
Geanie Morrison believes that it is critical that we have a quality educational system that prepares our youth for the workforce. It is critical that we have an educated workforce that encourages economic development, which will maintain and attract new business to the state. She believes that we must improve our public education system, and increase access to continuing education at all levels.
She also believes that Texas should increase the number of its nationally-recognized research universities; strengthen academic programs at community colleges so that more community college credits are transferable to universities; and, encourage adult education and workforce development to help adult high school drop outs seek and hold gainful employment.
-
Taxes
Geanie Morrison believes that Texans are overly burdened with excessive taxes. She supports lowering the amount that appraisals can be raised. She believes that the small business tax exemption for business that earn $1 million or less must be made permanent.
She also believes we should impose strict constitutional spending restraints to further slow the growth of state government; ensure that dedicated funds are spent for their intended purpose or return the money to taxpayers; return to a true zero-based budgeting process to force agencies to justify all spending requests each legislative session; close loopholes in welfare programs; and, increase resources for child support collection to reduce reliance on government programs.
-
Economic Development
Geanie Morrison believes that economic development is critical to ensure that Texas remains the leader it is today. It is critical that we ensure a reasonable tax policy, limit frivolous lawsuits, and eliminate burdensome regulation that drive businesses to other states.
-
Private Property Rights
Geanie Morrison believes in protecting the private property rights of all Texans. She has worked with her colleagues to put into place numerous protections against the government’s abusive use of eminent domain, and land seizures without fair compensation.
-
Federal Intrusion
Geanie Morrison believes in the 10th Amendment which states that, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” The federal government has overreached its bounds by continually infringing on states’ rights. It is important that states be allowed to govern themselves at the local level because the federal government’s idea that one size fits all is an abomination of the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Baby Moses Project
In 1999, a national spotlight was focused on a problem that deserves
the attention of all those who are concerned for the well being
of the most vulnerable in our society. Everyday countless women
around the world face the reality of an unwanted pregnancy. A small
number of these women hide or deny the fact that they are pregnant.
They have not confided in family or friends, and have not reached
out to any of the number of crisis pregnancy or adoption services
that are available to them. These women carry their babies to term,
give birth in "secret", and then out of fear, shame, confusion,
desperation, or sometimes selfishness, they abandon their newborn
baby in some out of the way place - leaving their child to die -
hoping that no one will ever know whose child it was.
